Greetings!

Hi! I’m Andy and I love playing violin and viola. I play for many different halls and venues from Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Youtube Theater to local Churches and Cathedrals!

About Andy

Musical Background

Andy started taking violin lessons upon his request to his mother at the age of 4 but abruptly stopped due to the harsh conditions and dedication involved with learning the instrument. He only then picked the violin back up at the age of 10, continued to play until he switched to viola at the age of 19. He continues to play and perform on both violin and viola and teaches both instruments at a professional level.

Teaching Philosophy

Andy believes that no one is too young nor old to learn music. His pedagogical approach centers on ensuring that every student, by the conclusion of each instructional session, acquires new knowledge. This may encompass either information disseminated during the lesson or insights derived through their own cognitive processes facilitated by guidance. The scope of the acquired knowledge transcends specific student requests, as he feels inclined to impart information that is perceived as beneficial to their overall development. After all, the student cannot learn and grow past the repertoire provided by their teacher.

Performance/Education Experience

Between 2016 and 2021, Andy has entered into a handful of competitions, winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placements in Satori Summer Music Festival Competition, Southern Youth Music Festival, and Diamond Bar Performing Arts Contest. He has also performed in the YouTube Theater, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Phantom of the Opera at our APU Theater, and in just a few months from now, the Yaamava’ Theater for the upcoming Yandel Sinfónico performance. This is all thanks to the incredible tutelage of renowned musicians such as Alex Russell, Hui Liu, Richard Elegino, Suli Xue, and Paul Coletti.
